Weekly sessions dedicated to academic coaching in English and Mathematics, alongside value-driven activities with children from underprivileged backgrounds. The work was consistent, long-term, and deeply relational — not a one-off event, but a sustained commitment to the development of each child.
Beyond weekly sessions, a range of special events were organised and executed: Family Day, where I served as one of the Logistics heads; Camp Explorer, where Primary 6 children could bond across clubs and prepare for secondary school life; and self-initiated activities including a BBQ, escape room, and science-based sessions — ice cream making and lava lamp making.
Each activity was designed to be both engaging and meaningful — building trust, broadening horizons, and reinforcing the value of community.
During 2023-2024, I initiated a club-wide invitation across CCAs in Singapore Polytechnic — roping in approximately 40 students who would otherwise not have volunteered. Many committed a full year to service-learning.
This initiative wasn't just about numbers. It was about expanding the definition of what athletes and club members do with their time — developing not only physically through sport, but holistically as servants of the community.
