Roles & Responsibilities

As the Logistics Main Committee member, my role was to ensure the acquisition and serviceability of items and equipment for all events within the SMA Club. This extended to working with the Singapore Maritime Academy on school-wide events (Open House, MEL Camp) and nationwide initiatives — including the first Maritime Youth Conference in collaboration with the Singapore Maritime Foundation, NTU, and SMU.

Previously as an Events Sub-Committee member, my role was to plan and execute events held by the school — sometimes acting as camp facilitator and even as camp chief.

SP Open House

The SP Open House takes place over three days, with the purpose of introducing prospective students to the facilities within the Singapore Maritime Academy — including the engine room, Maritime Business Centre, and navigation rooms.

During the COVID period, I was selected to create a virtual e-tour of the facilities. I also produced a day-in-my-life feature to give prospective students a candid look at student life in the Academy.

Maritime Youth Forum

The Maritime Youth Forum is a platform where students from polytechnics and universities are able to build a community across diverse disciplines and connect with the industry. As part of the main committee, this was the first forum of its kind — a collaborative effort between the Singapore Maritime Foundation, NTU, and SMU.

The forum's goal was to bridge the gap between maritime education and industry, creating a space for dialogue, networking, and exposure that doesn't ordinarily exist within the standard curriculum.

MEL Camp

The Maritime Experimental Learning Camp is an event hosted by the Singapore Maritime Academy where students get a chance to go behind the scenes of a luxury cruise — from the bridge to the galley — and see what really keeps it afloat.

I acted as a student leader for the event, bringing groups of students through the different areas of the vessel, leading activities including treasure hunts and coordinating performance segments. The role required both logistical planning and on-the-ground adaptability in a dynamic, real-world environment.
