Vision: SP MMA was established to provide students with exposure to Mixed Martial Arts through various forms of martial arts from around the world — Muay Thai, Judo, Wrestling, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. The club also provides students with opportunities to expand their social network while keeping themselves physically and mentally healthy.
Mission: SP MMA creates a platform for students to put their skills and talents into various forms of martial arts. Through training and competition, students learn to control their emotions and respect the people around them. The club instils self-discipline in training — a quality that benefits students in their studies and personal lives alike.
Starting as Treasurer/Secretary, my role was to cooperate with other departments on the acquisition and procurement of equipment and logistics for our events. I was also in charge of administrative tasks — taking meeting minutes and creating forms to standardise club operations.
Progressing to President, my responsibilities shifted to delegation and collaboration. This meant streamlining SOPs, handling and preparing all administrative tasks and paperwork, holding club meetings, and overseeing all club matters — both internal operations and external representation.
Beyond internal development, I initiated a service-learning programme that brought together members from seven CCAs — approximately 40 students in total — to volunteer with Touch Young Arrows over the course of a year. This wasn't a one-time activation; it was a sustained commitment, requiring coordination across clubs and consistent follow-through from participants who otherwise wouldn't have engaged with community service.
The programme developed students holistically — not just as athletes, but as contributors to the community around them.
Through sustained effort across club development, service-learning, and internal operations, these contributions helped the club receive the SP Excellence Award, alongside individual recognition. The award reflects not just performance, but the character and culture built within the team over time.
